Fluency in English and Spanish is required. A high school diploma is required; an associate degree is preferred.
Responsibilities- Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
- Develop and implement a monthly recreational activity calendar both on and off the facility.
- Ensure that needed recreational supplies and equipment are available for activities.
- Identify, recruit, and maintain commitment from community partners.
- Coordinate volunteer participation, including church group volunteers, in recreational activities.
- Provide clear verbal directions and guidelines during recreational activities.
- Document each child’s progress in recreational activities in monthly and quarterly reports.
- Assist staff with supervision of the service population during recreational activities.
- Supervise direct care staff during off-campus recreational outings.
- Use appropriate and positive child‑management techniques including verbal redirection, de‑escalation, and physical containment.
- Survey the service population quarterly to assess satisfaction and identify improvement actions; implement appropriate suggestions.
- Participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions, and operations.
- Attend workshops, seminars, and educational programs that promote professional growth and development.
- Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed or requested by supervisor.
- Implement Compass Connections safety protocols, including emergency evacuation with children and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
- Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards, including respect for agency staff, service population, community members, and compliance with dress code.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate recreational opportunities for the service population.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment during activities under the position’s direction.
- Frequently traverse from one location to another.
- Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
- Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
- Pass pre‑employment and biennial criminal background checks.
- Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio‑economic characteristics.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, and professionals.
- Provide crisis intervention as trained by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
- Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
- Work effectively both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, without intensive supervision.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
