Responsibilities
  • Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
    Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Oversees, directs, and staffs case actions related to safety, risk, and permanency daily. Ensures timely contact is made on all cases and staff are continually assessing child safety throughout the investigation by reviewing case records to ensure documentation reflects all contacts are accurately entered. Evaluates unit performance through case readings, review that safety assessments and reassessments are completed timely, and referrals to community resources or services are provided when needed.

  • Implements program guidelines, performs administrative functions for staff, and conducts unit meetings. Reviews abuse/neglect intakes routed to the unit daily, provides case consultation to assess and mitigate child safety risks, ensures timely contact with families, and tracks time and leave in CAPPS. Conducts training and monthly staff meetings. (25%)
  • Interviews, selects, hires, manages, and develops staff. Conducts field visits, reviews performance data, holds monthly conferences, trains, and completes performance appraisals to ensure unit compliance and service quality. (20%)
  • Consults with unit staff and interprets program policy and procedures to agency staff, parents, children, youth, caregivers, volunteers, judges, and other stakeholders. Develops and maintains relationships to ensure coordination and effective service delivery. Represents the program at meetings and events. (10%)

    • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to the INV/AR program.
    • Specialized knowledge of INV/AR program and child welfare practice

    Child Protective Services Supervisor I: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus 2 years of full-time CPS experience in a public social services agency OR 60 accredited college credit hours plus four years CPI/CPS casework experience OR 90 accredited college credit hours plus 3.5 years CPI/CPS casework experience OR Currently employed as a CIPS Supervisor I in Family and Protective Services.
