JOB SUMMARY
This role involves supporting the Health and Benefit Account Platform Technology Chapter by building and supporting mid-tier Health Savings Account (HSA) REST APIs for a cloud-hosted platform. The focus is on delivering scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions using modern engineering practices and cloud-native technologies. The team utilizes Dev Assist tools, including Git Hub Copilot, to enhance developer productivity, improve code quality, and ensure consistency while adhering to strong engineering standards.
This position is well-suited for a developer experienced in building, deploying, and supporting cloud-based applications within a highly motivated Agile team focused on delivering an exceptional digital experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform object-oriented analysis and design using object modeling and sequence diagrams.
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications using Spring, Spring Boot, Spring REST, Spring Batch, and Drools, including debugging, refactoring, and unit testing.
• Write complex Postgre
SQL queries and functions in a relational database environment.
• Build and deploy containerized, cloud-native applications.
• Create, update, and maintain technical documentation for software solutions.
• Track and manage development tasks using Jira.
• Collaborate closely with business partners to understand requirements and develop effective technical solutions.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and product implementation planning.
• Ensure high-quality deliverables by adhering to best practices, including well-structured and documented code, comprehensive unit, functional, and integration testing, and solutions that fully meet business needs.
Required Qualifications
• 6-9 years of Java / Spring development experience
• 2+ years of design experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Experience building and deploying applications in a cloud environment
• Strong microservices architecture experience
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs
• Experience with infrastructure and platform technologies such as Kubernetes, Kafka, MSSQL, and Data Dog
• Experience working with relational and No
SQL databases, including Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB
• Experience with CI/CD and development tools including Jenkins, Jenkins Core, UDeploy, Docker, GIT, Git Hub, and gitflow
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Git Hub Copilot as part of the daily development workflow to improve code quality, development efficiency, and consistency while adhering to secure coding and enterprise best practices
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Knowledge of authorization and authentication concepts and implementations
• Prior experience contributing to design or architecture efforts
• Ability to translate business requirements into high-quality, working technical solutions
• Quick learner with an interest in adopting new tools, technologies, and frameworks
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate optimally with engineers, product managers, and business partners
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience developing on the Azure platform
