Transportation Maintenance Tech I or II - Dell City, TX (2601095)

Join our team in Dell City, Texas, and play a vital role in keeping West Texas roads safe. We are looking for motivated Transportation Maintenance Technicians (TMT I or TMT II) to help maintain our state infrastructure. This position offers company-sponsored CDL training to qualified employees.

Salary Plan:

  • Transportation Maintenance Technician I - A16 - $40,918.00 - $61,130.00
  • Transportation Maintenance Technician II - A17 - $42,976.00 - $64,469.00

Note:

Maximum Salary: 64,469.00

Travel: Yes, 25% of the time

Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Transportation Maintenance Tech I:

  • Assist in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; perform basic welding as needed; use/move equipment/tools, materials related to these activities.
  • Assist in providing support to local law enforcement at accident sites; assist stranded motorists as required.
  • Assist with traffic control; place and gather cones, warning signs and barricades; flag traffic.
  • Determine placement of traffic control devices and install/move devices.
  • Inspect barricades to ensure compliance with barricade standards.
  • Maintain highways and rights-of-way; perform roadway repairs; erect and repair guard rails, highway markers and signs; haul materials and equipment to job sites.
  • Maintain picnic and rest areas, rights-of-way, maintenance yards and comfort stations; move/pick up litter and roadway debris.
  • Mow rights-of-way and perform plant and landscape maintenance including trimming trees and brush.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment as specified; perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI) and minor repairs; complete required reports.
  • Assist during emergencies (floods, storms, accidents, hazardous material spills) as directed.

Transportation Maintenance Tech II:

  • Perform moderately complex transportation operations or maintenance tasks, including inspections and traffic control duties; work independently on assignments with supervisor for unusual issues.
  • Operate complex heavy equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain highways and rights-of-way; perform skilled roadway repairs; erects/repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs; haul materials and equipment.
  • Identify, repair, and install signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; perform welding; use/move equipment/tools, materials, and products.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education

Transportation Maintenance Tech I/II:
No education required.

Experience

TMT I = No experience required

TMT II = 1 year experience*

* Experience must be in transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, heavy equipment operation, or related work experience. Substitutions for
