Job DetailsCoordinate shipping, receiving and storage of inventory in accordance with the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system. Verify quantity, quality, labeling and addressing of products on all in‑coming and out‑going shipments, contact carriers to arrange deliveries, perform data entry responsibilities, resolve discrepancies related to freight costs/shipping, coordinate DOT regulated shipments and provide backup support to the Supervisor to deliver exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure the shipment of all customer orders from inventory is consistent with delivery goals and company policies.
- Inspect incoming material against orders and specifications for correctness and defects; arrange return of defective material.
- Liaise with other departments to guarantee timely response to events affecting on‑time shipment of product.
- Receive return of goods authorization (RGA’s) in CHESS after inspection and enter received material into locations.
- Develop and maintain economical and efficient transportation services, including negotiation of rates and routing of shipments for full truck load (FTL).
- Work with freight forwarders to process shipments and invoices, create commercial invoices for international shipments, and look up and assign freight charges for bill and prepaid orders.
- Coordinate DOT regulated shipments, meet proper labeling requirements, and prepare HAZMAT paperwork when required (e.g., shipping paint).
- Manage freight claims; resolve carrier claims, track lost or damaged freight, keep inventory on freight claim material, communicate with trucking companies, and conduct analysis of monthly reports.
- Enhance inventory accuracy and service delivery by following up on material orders and receipts.
- Work closely with Material Schedulers and Warehouse Associates to ensure quantities and identification, follow up with vendors on arrival dates, and update CHESS inventory.
- Field questions from Production on pending delivery of product.
- Audit orders packed throughout the day; pull/pack orders when necessary.
- Participate in plant physical inventories, cycle counts, and process adjustments as required.
- Develop, implement, and administer all procedures related to receiving, shipping and all internal movement of materials as well as measure accuracy of physical inventories.
- Efficiently organize a centralized storage system for raw material and finished goods.
- Adhere to and possess knowledge of all ISO processes, procedures, flowcharts, and quality policy.
- Document all department processes and procedures and train the appropriate individual(s) as necessary.
- High School Diploma or GED (mandatory).
- 3+ years of experience in plant/operations/manufacturing/shipping, logistics, transportation, or inventory management using modern inventory techniques (e.g., cycle counting, manufacturing resources planning, and JIT).
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
- ISO experience.
- OSHA experience.
- HAZMAT certification.
- 100% inventory accuracy.
- 100% cycle count accuracy on items.
- 100% bill of material accuracy.
- 94% on‑time service.
- RGA’s received within 48 hours.
- Freight claims processed within 48 hours.
