Job Details

Coordinate shipping, receiving and storage of inventory in a manner consistent with the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system. Verify quantity, quality, labeling and addressing of products on both in-coming and out-going shipments, contact carriers to arrange deliveries, perform data entry responsibilities, resolve discrepancies related to freight costs/shipping, coordinate DOT regulated shipments, and provide back-up support to the Supervisor for exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures the shipment of all customer orders from inventory are consistent with the delivery goals and policies of the company
  • Provides for the inspection of incoming material against orders & specifications for correctness, defects, and arranges return of defective material
  • Acts as liaison with other departments to ensure timely response to events affecting on time shipment of product
  • Receives return of goods authorization (RGA’s) in CHESS after they have been inspected and entered received material in to locations
  • Develops and maintains economical and efficient transportation services, including negotiations of rates and routing of shipments for FTL
  • Works with freight forwarders to process shipments and invoices throughout the day, create commercial invoices for international shipments, look up and assign freight charges for bill and prepaid orders
  • Coordinates DOT regulated shipments, meet proper labeling requirements, and prepare HAZMAT paperwork when required (e.g.: shipping paint)
  • Manages freight claims, carrier claim resolution, dollars etc. on lost or damaged freight, keep inventory on freight claim material, communicate with trucking Companies, conducts analysis of reports status monthly
  • Enhances inventory accuracy and service delivery through follow-up on material orders and receipts
  • Works closely with Material Schedulers and Warehouse Associates to ensure quantities and identification, follow-up with vendors on arrival dates and update the CHESS inventory
  • Field questions from Production on pending delivery of product
  • Audits orders packed throughout the day, pull/pack orders when necessary
  • Participates in plant physical inventories, cycle counts, process adjustments as required
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of all procedures related to receiving, shipping and all internal movement of materials as well as the measurement of accuracy of physical inventories
  • Ensures the efficient organization of a centralized storage system for raw material and finished goods
  • Responsible for adherence and knowledge of all ISO processes, procedures, flowcharts, and quality policy
  • All department processes and procedures documented and the appropriate individual(s) trained and cross‑trained as necessary
Required Education / Experience / Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED Mandatory
  • 3+ years of experience in Plant/Operations/Manufacturing/Shipping, or Logistics and/or the Transportation, or Inventory Management using modern inventory techniques (eg: cycle counting, manufacturing resources planning, and JIT techniques)
  • Proficient Verbal and Written English Communication Skills
