Position SummaryWe are currently seeking motivated individuals interested in becoming a School Bus Driver through our Driver in Training Program. This is a paid training opportunity designed to prepare candidates for a full-time bus driver position upon successful completion.
Trainees will complete 40 hours of driver training, which includes classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel driving, and safety procedures. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to apply for a full-time bus driver position within the district.
Requirements- Must possess a valid CDL Permit with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Must have a clean driving record
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and DOT physical
- Ability to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and work effectively with students and staff
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- 40 hours of paid driver training (classroom & behind-the-wheel)
- Training includes all required safety and regulatory procedures
- All training costs are covered by the district
- Upon successful completion, candidates will be invited to apply for a full-time Bus Driver position
- Training time is paid
- Rate of pay during training: $11.50/hr
- Upon successful completion, trainees are eligible to apply for a full-time Bus Driver position
- Power lifts and ramps

- First Aid Kit / Body Fluids Management Kit
- Kinedyne wheelchair tie‑downs
- Seat belts and/or vest restraints, as needed
- Two‑way radio and/or Nextel communication devices
- Chocks
- Belt cutter
- Back support belt
- Stay alert and monitor student behavior and safety needs
- Maintain emotional control and professionalism
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and dispatch
- Manage and maintain control over groups of students
- Frequent lifting of 10–50 lbs; occasional lifting of 50–100 lbs; infrequent lifting over 100 lbs with assistance
- Prolonged sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand/arm motions
- Occasional walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Moderate lifting and carrying
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, vehicle fumes, and moving mechanical parts
- Possible exposure to body fluids and other contagions
- Work inside and outside, in and around school buses and other transportation vehicles
