Description
JOB SUMMARYThe Parts & Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting parts, materials, equipment, inventory, tools, and other authorized property between Milford locations, approved vendors, customer facilities, storage locations, and project sites.
This position operates company-owned light-duty trucks and approved non-CDL trailer combinations, prepares and secures loads, completes required transportation and delivery records, and helps ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately, professionally, and on schedule.
When not making deliveries, the Parts & Delivery Driver supports branch and warehouse operations by pulling customer orders, staging deliveries, loading customer pickups, organizing inventory, participating in inventory counts, maintaining clean work areas, and assisting with other operational duties as assigned. This position does not routinely perform receiving duties.
The Parts & Delivery Driver frequently interacts with customers and represents Milford at customer locations. Employees are expected to maintain a clean and professional appearance and communicate in a courteous, respectful, and customer-focused manner.
Success in this position requires safe driving, reliable attendance, strong customer service, accurate documentation, load-securement proficiency, attention to detail, flexibility, integrity, and a willingness to support overall branch operations.
Transportation and Deliveries- 1. Safely operate assigned company-owned light-duty pickup trucks and approved non-CDL trailer combinations.
- 2. Transport parts, materials, equipment, tools, inventory, branch transfers, and other authorized property between Milford locations, approved vendors, customer facilities, storage locations, and project sites.
- 3. Plan safe and efficient routes using approved GPS, navigation, mapping, traffic, weather, and routing applications.
- 4. Verify the delivery destination, customer information, order number, materials, quantities, equipment, documentation, and special instructions before leaving the branch.
- 5. Confirm that all transported items are supported by an approved sales order, transfer document, delivery document, work order, rental document, or other authorized transaction.
- 6. Complete deliveries and pickups accurately, safely, professionally, and within reasonable scheduled expectations.
- 7. Obtain required customer signatures, electronic delivery confirmations, photographs, receipts, timestamps, or other proof of delivery.
- 8. Promptly return completed delivery paperwork and electronic records to the appropriate department.
- 9. Communicate delays, route changes, weather concerns, traffic conditions, rejected deliveries, inaccessible locations, damaged materials, incorrect quantities, or other delivery issues to the Branch Manager or appropriate branch personnel.
- 10. Contact branch management before changing a delivery location, leaving materials without a customer representative present, or accepting a customer return.
- 11. Do not alter delivery quantities, substitute materials, authorize returns, change delivery locations, make pricing commitments, or promise additional products or services without approval.
- 12. Do not leave materials, equipment, or customer property unattended at an unapproved location.
- 13. Document shortages, overages, rejected deliveries, damaged materials, inaccessible sites, customer concerns, and other delivery discrepancies.
- 14. Return undelivered materials, unauthorized customer returns, and all related documentation to the designated Milford location unless otherwise directed.
- 15. Maintain professional conduct, appearance, language, and customer service while representing Milford.
- 16. Protect company and customer property from damage, loss, theft, contamination, misuse, or unauthorized access during loading, transportation, delivery, and unloading.
- 17. Perform occasional interstate travel as required to support Milford locations, customer needs, branch transfers, vendors, or other business requirements.
- 18. Complete rare overnight travel assignments when operationally necessary.
- 19. Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and trailers.
- 20. Inspect tires, wheels, lights, signals, mirrors, windows, brakes, fluids, safety equipment, hitch components, trailer connections, and other required items before operation.
