Practice Provider Role

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, the provider will care for individuals, families, and patient groups dealing with cancer or related diagnoses. Care may occur in clinic or virtually via telemedicine and includes prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. Responsibilities may involve direct caregiving, health‑care consulting, patient education, administration, or research, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and supporting the US Oncology Compliance Program.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Initiate and document appropriate interventions; evaluate and record patient/family response and prescribe therapies as indicated.
  • Perform procedures after appropriate training.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide education.
  • Promote wellness and recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Incorporate evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
  • Develop knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Complete patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Provide case management for patients and families, referencing community resources as appropriate.
  • Promote or provide staff education.
  • Rounding at affiliated hospitals; weekend or after‑hour calls as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess the following background and experience:

Nurse Practitioner
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution and completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program.
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Level I: 0–3 years of experience.
  • Level II: 3–6 years of experience.
  • Level Senior: 6+ years of experience.
Physician Assistant
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Level I: 0–3 years of experience.
  • Level II: 3–6 years of experience.
  • Level Senior: 6+ years of experience.
Physical Demands

Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods, and occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal limits.

Work Environment

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
