Serving as a center of Native American trade for over 10,000 years and the end of the Oregon Trail, history buffs will find the area steeped in history and culture. The Dalles has a quaint and historic small‑town feel, with a population just over 13,000. Boasting a mere 14 inches of rain annually, The Dalles is home to bountiful agricultural products, including world‑renowned cherries, grapes, and wheat.

It is home to Columbia Gorge Community College, which offers the first wind‑power training program in the Pacific Northwest, Google’s Data Center, numerous orchards, vineyards, wineries, craft breweries, and a thriving business community.

One Athletic Season – Salary to be determined by Board/District 21 Education Association Contract Agreement.

Provide leadership and organization of assigned athletic program grades 6-8. Lead in establishing an environment in which student/athletes can gain self‑esteem and develop a positive self‑image. Direct the promotion of sportsmanship, a winning attitude, and commitment to student academic success.

• Skills: Exemplify moral character that is consistent with being a positive role model for high school students.
• Knowledge: Knowledge of the sport at the middle school and high school levels (to include recent rule changes). Develop a system of play that can be effectively communicated with assistants to implement grades 9-12. Know how to communicate effectively with athletes and parents.
• Ability: Work harmoniously with others. Organize and manage students’ time effectively. Use problem‑solving strategies consistently. Adjust to performing practices in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations.

High School Diploma or equivalent. College Degree Preferred.

Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance; district drug screening clearance; BBP Training; NFHS Coaches Certification or ASEP Certification (includes First Aid/CPR Certification).

Any offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of:

• Drug screening tests for any illegal drug or substance classified in Schedules I through V under the Federal Controlled Substances Act, 21 U.S.C. 811 to 812.
