Job Description

District Mission: “Educating each student to the highest standards while motivating them to reach their fullest potential and graduating them to be college, career and life ready.”

The Elementary Classroom Teacher is hired to develop students’ academic and interpersonal skills through instructional courses, implement District‑approved curriculum, document teaching and student progress, address educational needs, provide a safe learning environment, and give feedback to students, parents and administration.

Salary

$47,930–$95,933 (non-PERS)

$50,988–$102,055 (PERS)

Job Qualifications & Licensure
  • BA/BS or higher degree (required) in Curriculum, Elementary Education, Reading, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • Valid Oregon Teaching License that meets Highly Qualified Requirements.
  • Hold and maintain appropriate license and endorsement(s) from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in Oregon.
  • Willingness to teach any qualified subject area.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Provide a variety of classroom techniques and methods.
  • Promote high levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities.
  • Use techniques and methodologies appropriate to student abilities.
  • Utilize current and relevant subject matter.
  • Demonstrate research‑based instruction principles:
    • Organize instruction using learning objectives with clear student outcomes.
    • Employ teaching strategies aligning with planned outcomes.
    • Select strategies emphasizing student involvement.
    • Monitor student learning and pace instruction accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain a conducive learning environment:
    • Create and enforce classroom behavior rules.
    • Communicate course goals and academic expectations.
    • Ensure health and safety of students in all instructional settings.
  • Prepare effectively for each class, including daily lesson plans aligned with district standards.
  • Develop and communicate grading standards, ensuring they are clear and available to parents.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, staff and administration.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of student progress and feedback.
  • Maintain appropriate records of student performance and grading.
  • Build motivation and interest in learning.
  • Stay current on literature and activities in subject area.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and development, including attending relevant workshops.

  • Dress and behave in a neat, clean, professional manner.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Confer regularly with licensed staff and immediate supervisor.
