Position: Health Technician (Radiology)

Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Service is recruiting a Health Technician (Radiology) at The Villages VA Outpatient clinic. This position supports the General Diagnostic Radiology - CT - MRI - Ultrasound - Mammography - Nuclear Medicine and Interventional Radiology sections. The incumbent is responsible for a wide variety of duties requiring the ability to interact with patients - physicians - nurses - radiologic technologists - radiology residents and radiologists - as well as other ancillary hospital personnel.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Individual Occupational Requirement:
Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists - speech pathologists - medical officers - and optometrists. Therefore - you are required to have technician experience - which is experience that required application of the knowledge - methods - and techniques of the position to be filled. In addition to meeting the Individual Occupational Requirement - applicants must also meet the specialized experience.

GS-06 grade level:
One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge - skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position - and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled - in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Specialized experience includes - but are not limited to:
Provides quality customer service - explains all studies to patient in a clear - professional manner and provides information and resources to patient and family. Communicates effectively with patients - their families and all care providers. Checks orders for complete information - protocol - and appropriateness criteria for specific modality. Checks the patient's electronic chart for potential interactions - abnormal lab results or patient conditions that could make it unsafe for the patient to have the requested procedure.

Performs daily testing - documentation - replacement - and maintenance of the Crash Cart equipment. Sets up the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper sterile procedure when needed.
