The Diesel Mechanic located at The Villages, FL will maintain, diagnose, and repair hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems on heavy-duty waste vehicles to ensure DOT compliance and operational safety. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a dynamic organization where your expertise will play a critical role in keeping our operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities- Preventative Maintenance (PM):
Conducting routine maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, lubrication of moving parts, tire rotations, and brake adjustments. - Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:
Using computer diagnostic software and electronic diagnostic systems to interpret failure codes and identify issues in diesel engines and related systems. - System Repairs:
Repairing and rebuilding faulty parts, including hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brake systems, transmissions, steering, suspension, and engines. - Specialized Equipment Maintenance:
Maintaining, repairing, and adjusting hydraulic and pneumatic components, such as cylinders, hoses, pumps, and motors, particularly on packer bodies. - Road Calls and Emergency Repairs:
Responding to roadside emergency calls for on-theroad breakdowns to diagnose and, if possible, repair equipment on-site. - Safety Inspections:
Reviewing and completing repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) and conducting safety checks on all heavy equipment. - Documentation:
Complete reports, work orders, order parts and perform other administrative duties as required daily. Keep a detailed recording of work performed, parts used, and labor hours. - Compliance:
Ensuring all vehicles meet Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). OSHA safety standards. - Purchasing:
Order and replace parts as necessary, ensuring inventory is properly managed.

Here’s what you'll need- Minimum 3 years of experience in heavy-duty truck maintenance
- CDL Class B
- Must have a clean driving record. Pass background and drug screening
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications (T-Series) preferred
- Extensive knowledge of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and hoses.
- Proficiency with diesel engine diagnostic software and troubleshooting electrical systems.
- Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) and OSHA regulations is essential.
- Experience in performing scheduled services, including oil changes, brake inspections, and suspension repairs.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (often 50+ lbs), bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

The base salary range for this position is $58,240.00 to $66,560.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
