With minimal supervision and strong initiative, the Center Coordinator will provide information and referral, program, administrative, and operational support for the Montgomery County United Way Center. This role will serve as a key point of contact for community members, partner agencies, tenants, and other stakeholders, connecting individuals to appropriate resources and services through Center-based information and referral services and designated support for the 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE.

The Center Coordinator will support assigned programs and participant engagement, including United Way initiatives and Center-based activities, and help coordinate the Center's day-to-day administrative and operational needs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Information and Referral (I&R) Services
  • Provides information and referral services to help seekers through multiple access points, including walk-ins, incoming Center calls, and designated support of the 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE by logging into the designated telephony platform for at least 10 hours per week, with additional coverage provided as needed based on Center operations and scheduling needs. Responds to inbound calls, assesses needs, and provides appropriate information and referrals in accordance with established 211 procedures and service standards.
  • Maintains familiarity with local community resources, programs, and service providers to ensure accurate and effective referrals.
  • Maintains and updates Center resource information and materials and facilitates identified updates to resources and information used by 211.
  • Successfully completes required 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE training upon hire and maintains the knowledge and competencies necessary to provide HELPLINE support.
Center Administration, Operations, and Facilities Support
  • Provides administrative and operational support for the United Way Center, including responding to phone inquiries and requests, data entry, departmental processes, reporting, accounting functions, and utilizing specialized software systems.
  • Coordinates facility operations, tenant services, building access, maintenance requests, conference room scheduling, room setup, and stakeholder communications to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Independently manages projects, prioritize competing responsibilities, and maintain continuity of operations in the absence of the Center Manager.
  • Supports tenant onboarding, transitions, and ongoing communication, including coordination of office and workspace needs and tenant meetings.
  • Supports a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for staff, tenants, volunteers, and visitors.
Program and Resource Management (Engagement or Initiative) Support
  • Supports Center-based and organizational initiatives that connect individuals and families to services and opportunities, including Integrated Client Journey (ICJ) navigation and self-service initiatives, community outreach, and other economic mobility efforts.
  • Provides administrative and participant support for the Women Who Rock Child Care Scholarship, including processing and tracking childcare invoices, maintaining communication and relationships with scholarship recipients, and supporting related program activities.
  • Supports community outreach and engagement efforts designed to increase awareness of and participation in United Way programs, services, and resources.
  • Participates in relevant departmental and organizational meetings and training courses necessary to support assigned programs and initiatives.
Other Duties
  • Performs additional duties and special projects assigned, including support for United Way events, center activities, organizational initiatives and other emerging priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

    A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
  • Three (3) years of experience providing high-quality administrative support, with strong skills in office technology, document production, records management, and professional customer service.
  • Extensive computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint) and online survey platforms such as Survey Gizmo, Survey Monkey, and Doodle.
