Position:
Safety Coordinator

The Site Safety Coordinator will be responsible for providing safety coverage in the field and coordination with sub‑contractors and their safety personnel for work on the project site. This individual shall assist the Site Safety Manager in managing the site safety program. The Site Safety Coordinator will be based on the job site and shall assist the FWE site safety team to ensure compliance with company safety policy and processes as well as federal/state guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Field‑based evaluation of workers and walk‑throughs to identify safety hazards, with 75% of time spent on site, and reporting observations into the online Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Assist the Site Safety Manager in managing the site safety program and ensuring compliance with company safety policy, processes, and federal/state guidelines.
  • Coordinate with sub‑contractors and their safety personnel and maintain safety coverage on the job site.
  • Participate in incident investigations, document incidents in the SMS, and maintain safety incident reports.
  • Promote a "Safety First" culture throughout the project, ensuring all levels of management and operations internalize safety practices.
  • Maintain inventories of safety supplies, report weekly to the Safety Manager, and submit daily reports of all safety activities.
  • Present safety information to the crew during All Hands Meetings and participate in safety committees.
  • Monitor the site’s adherence to corporate and project‑specific safety policies, OSHA, state, and local safety standards.
  • Work with field supervision to implement safety aspects such as lifting plans, traffic control, work plans, and related activities.
  • Assist in the selection, training, development, and appraisal of safety plans and processes.
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with the owner or the owner’s representative and Ferrovial Webber Energy personnel.
  • Read, understand, and plan according to work specifications and contract responsibilities.
  • Anticipate project conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and implement approved solutions to avoid issues.
  • Assist in planning work according to project schedules.
  • Oversee subcontractors, monitor, and report safety incidents and reports.
  • Conduct site orientation presentations for workers and visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of safety experience in the construction industry.
  • Minimum 3+ years in renewable generation projects (solar or wind farms).
  • OSHA 510 and NFPA 70E certifications valued, though not required.
  • Valid driver’s license for frequent travel.
  • English/Spanish bilingualism valued, though not required.
  • Moderate physical activity with exposure to changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to maneuver by foot over minor obstacles at construction sites.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.
  • Computer knowledge and working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
