WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the estimation and construction of oil & gas facility construction projects across North America. The Project Manager has overall responsibility for Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment compliance, managing client relations, pre–award planning, and developing project strategies to suit client and corporate needs for one or multiple projects.
This includes oversight and coordination of procurement, prime contracts, subcontractor management, and project controls functions including profitability, schedule, cost, change management, and risk management.
- Supported by the Project Director, transition a contract award into project deliverables: create work plans, evolve proposal bid estimates to a project budget, develop the project baseline schedule.
- Lead the project management team throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Interface with all functional leaders to facilitate project development from constructability through construction, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Provide clear direction and leadership to ensure key performance objectives (cost, schedule, safety, quality, environmental, owner satisfaction, and subcontractor relationships) are achieved.
- Distribute workload to capitalize on individual and group strengths while ensuring balanced exposure to work experience and development opportunities.
- Demonstrate leadership in health, safety, and environmental protection, applying the requirements of the Site‑Specific Safety Plan, Environmental Protection Plan, and Project Quality Plan to promote compliance with SMJV QHSE standards, applicable Acts, regulations, and codes.
- Ensure project goals are met or exceeded.
- Develop, implement, and manage a project‑specific "Project Management & Control" plan.
- Liaise with Construction Managers and Superintendents to develop, implement and manage project execution plans.
- Lead the project teams in developing the construction methodology and procedures continuously.
- Manage all project reporting requirements, internally and externally.
- Utilize corporate project systems and processes to meet project deliverables.
- Maximize use of project resources to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Manage the project change management process.
- Coordinate subcontractor relations and administrative processes.
- Be responsible and accountable for project financial results.
- Support operations and functional management in achieving corporate initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with the client and its representatives.
Qualifications
- Completion of post‑secondary education in civil engineering/technology, construction management, or a related field is an asset.
- Combination of education and relevant experience.
- Professional designation such as PE, P. Tech or PMP is an asset.
- Minimum of 7 years related work experience is required.
- Project experience on medium to large‑scale facility projects is an asset.
- Previous experience managing design‑build infrastructure projects is an asset.
- Field‑based project experience is an asset.
- Strong communication skills; confident interaction with key contacts in verbal, written, and electronic form.
- Understanding of the oil and gas industrial construction industry.
- Ability to read and understand construction documents including contracts, drawings, specifications, and subcontracts.
- Proven understanding of estimating and project management theories, methodologies, and industry practices.
- Thorough understanding of scheduling processes.
- Ability to contribute to and integrate cost reports.
- Familiarity with relevant construction codes, standards, and practices.
This position is based at our Broussard, LA or The Woodlands, TX office and requires travel to the project site at least three days per week.
Reporting RelationshipsThe Project Manager reports to the Project Director.
