Job Overview
Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for our Houston, TX Division. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and successful execution of large-scale heavy civil construction projects, including highways, roadways, bridges, and related infrastructure. This role oversees projects from preconstruction through final completion, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, schedule, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
The position requires extensive experience with DOT and municipal clients and strong leadership of project management and field teams.
- Provide overall leadership and accountability for large, complex heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Manage multiple projects or programs simultaneously, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and contractual requirements.
- Lead project financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting, revenue recognition, and final project profitability.
- Oversee contract administration, including change management, claims support, risk mitigation, and dispute resolution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with owners, DOT representatives, engineers, inspectors, and key stakeholders.
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure full compliance and proactive issue resolution.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field leadership.
- Direct subcontractor procurement, negotiations, contract execution, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety programs, environmental regulations, and client-specific requirements.
- Lead executive-level project meetings, progress reviews, and client briefings.
- Support preconstruction activities including estimating reviews, constructability analysis, scheduling, and risk assessment.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience managing large-scale heavy civil or highway construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience with DOT or federally funded infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of DOT specifications, contracts, and construction methodologies.
- Proven ability to manage large project budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with TxDOT projects preferred.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- PMP, CCM, or PE certification a plus.
Primoris Heavy Civil provides highway, port, airfield, rail and marine (intermodal transportation) construction services to private commercial and industrial clients as well as governmental entities such as the Department of Transportation and the US Army Corps of Engineers. Heavy Civil is comprised of six operating units that include North Louisiana Operations, South Louisiana Operations, Texas Operations, HMA Paving Operations, Concrete Paving Operations, and the Infrastructure Rehabilitation Unit.
