Content Operations is responsible for delivering Disney’s entertainment and sports content globally, managing a supply chain from finalized TV shows or live pieces to audiences in their preferred language and format. The DC3 Transmission team supports 24x7 monitoring and operational sustainment of ABC linear and digital distribution, Disney kids and family cable networks, as well as over-the-air affiliates and OTT services.

• Demonstrate understanding of signal measurement and procedures.
• Fundamental knowledge of MPEG-2, MPEG-4 & HEVC digital compression systems for distribution across Disney family of networks.
• Basic understanding of satellite, fiber & IP based transport (HLS, RTMP, SRT, unicast, multicast, etc.).
• Interact with internal departments & outside service providers to plan for day-to-day live feed acquisition.
• Responsible for troubleshooting & resolution of specific daily operational problems, recommending corrective actions where appropriate.
• Perform quality control and corrective action to enhance product.
• Fully comprehend applicable SOPs & subsequent workflows for assigned transmission areas of responsibilities.
• Comprehend the operational functionality of our Evertz IRM operating system.
• Basic understanding of streaming technology & workflow associated with digital offerings (ESPN+, STAR+, ESPN3, etc.).
• Participate in interdepartmental meetings involving projects/issues affecting the Transmission department.
• Assist with special projects as assigned by department management.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and new technology.
• Provide general suggestions on modifying procedures & processes for more streamlined workflow.
• Take diagnostic & corrective actions to correct transmission problems associated with contribution or distribution signals.
• Monitor network signals & initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of new technology & workflows to support various assignments.
• Comply fully with company and/or departmental SOPs and any other stated policies.
• Contribute to analysis or problem-solving measures needed to support the operation.
• Must be adept at understanding routine information & demonstrate comprehension through operational accuracy.
• Able to work a 24/7 schedule in a fast paced, high profile Technical Operations Center (TOC).
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Demonstrate high quality citizenship and teamwork to get the job done!

Basic Qualifications

• Awareness of digital distribution equipment used in audio and video satellite uplinks & downlinks for television broadcast transmission.
• Awareness of MPEG-2, MPEG-4 & HEVC digital compression systems.
• Awareness of encryption systems used for front-haul and back-haul transmission applications.
• Basic knowledge of over-the-top streaming distribution.
• Basic knowledge of RF-related test equipment.
• Basic knowledge of IP-based transport (HLS, RTMP, SRT, unicast, multicast, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of bonded cellular technology.
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
• Modestly experienced technical individual contributor with good skills working in a 24x7 technical operation center (TOC).

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior broadcasting experience; military experience within transmission, satellites, RF or related fields preferred.

Required Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
