You have deep training in structured literacy. Orton-Gillingham. LETRS. Wilson. IMSE. Or a Master's focused on reading. You listen to a miscue and pinpoint the phonemic weakness. You build phonics lessons without a script. That expertise is your baseline, not your differentiator.

What sets you apart is your presence with young children. At Alpha, the role of Guide comes first: you are a magnetic, high-energy figure whom six-year-olds are excited to work with. Your structured-literacy training opens the door; your capacity to hold K-2 students engaged for a 20-minute workshop determines whether you are hired. If "magnetic, high-energy" does not capture who you are, this position is not a fit.

Alpha has dismantled conventional instruction. Students advance through academic content independently on AI-adaptive platforms—no lectures, no textbooks, no district calendars. Your position represents the one irreplaceable human touchpoint. You create small-group reading workshops informed by live student performance data, and you facilitate motivation sessions that ensure 100% of students reach their weekly app targets, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate game mechanics).

Your initial months center on building rapport. Workshops must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective. Student satisfaction metrics and "love your Guide" survey results (goal: 90%+) track that directly. Once you establish credibility, your influence expands: reading AI-generated performance analytics to refine upcoming instruction, communicating fluency gains and decoding progress to families, and helping shape Alpha's evolving K-2 literacy strategy alongside adaptive technology.

As Alpha opens additional campuses, the systems you develop become the blueprint for reading instruction across the organization.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading workshops rooted in structured-literacy principles (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or comparable), informed by live student data
  • Running daily motivation sessions that ensure every student meets their weekly adaptive-app targets, applying Alpha's motivational system (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate game elements)
  • Conducting and interpreting running records, fluency assessments, and decoding evaluations to monitor progress and refine instruction for each session
  • Analyzing AI-generated performance data from Alpha's adaptive platforms to differentiate instruction dynamically, not only during advance preparation
  • Serving as the approachable, energetic adult presence your K-2 students are excited to see daily
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Implementing a packaged reading curriculum, scripted lesson sequence, or district timeline; you build lessons directly from student performance data
  • Delivering whole-class lectures; instruction occurs in targeted small groups while students engage with adaptive apps for core academic subjects
  • Serving as a reading consultant, teacher coach, or district administrator; you work in the classroom with children daily
  • Managing a conventional classroom schedule—subject-by-subject lectures, homework correction, test preparation; your time is devoted to workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small-group instruction
  • Assigning grades or completing report cards; progress tracking relies on app analytics and your assessment records
