Youth Development Specialist - On-site in Houston, TX

On-site in Houston, TX—campuses located in Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands (relocation assistance available)

  • $100,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage begins day one

The kindest thing you can offer a student who reached 99% of their target is to refuse to accept anything less than completion. If that mindset causes discomfort, this position is not the right fit. If it resonates because you understand that maintaining high expectations is the truest way to communicate belief in a student's ability, continue reading.

Alpha operates differently than conventional schools. Students complete a full day s worth of academics in roughly two hours using adaptive software. No traditional lectures. No physical textbooks.

Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: guiding Pre-K through 8th grade students in life competencies such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. You will spend half your day facilitating structured, hands-on workshops built around established playbooks and narrative techniques. The remaining half involves one-on-one or small-group sessions where you examine student progress via adaptive learning platforms using Coachbot analytics and drive them toward achieving 100% of their weekly objectives.

Mastery is demonstrated through Test2

Pass evaluations, not attendance or effort scores.

During your first year, you will manage a student cohort and internalize Alpha s operational framework: life skill instruction, motivational coaching, mastery-driven evaluation. As you demonstrate the ability to hold every student accountable to 100% goal attainment while maintaining satisfaction ratings above 90%, advancement to Lead Guide becomes accessible—a role where you mentor fellow Guides while remaining directly engaged with students.

The most effective individuals in this position do more than transform individual trajectories; they influence campus-wide culture and operations.

If your background includes years of coaching, counseling, or mentoring young people and you have longed to eliminate traditional instruction to concentrate purely on developmental growth, this opportunity is designed for you.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Facilitating one-hour life competency workshops for Pre-K through 8th grade students covering public speaking, focus, teamwork, and feedback exchange (project-driven and interactive)
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivational sessions in which you assess each student s adaptive learning app performance (via Coachbot analytics), establish objectives, and drive them toward 100% weekly goal completion
  • Overseeing and evaluating Test2

Pass assessments to verify genuine mastery of each life skill rather than mere participation
  • Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from Pre-K learners requiring dynamic, movement-based engagement to 8th graders needing direct conversation and accountability
  • Cultivating authentic connections with every student so they develop the trust required to accept guidance through challenges, distractions, and uncertainty
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Delivering lectures or traditional academic content (core subjects are learned through adaptive applications, not direct instruction from you)
  • Creating lesson plans or original curriculum (Alpha supplies structured life skills playbooks; your responsibility is to execute them with enthusiasm and narrative skill)
  • Handling parent communication or administrative operations (Campus Leads manage those functions; your focus remains on students)
  • Assigning or grading homework, or preparing students for standardized exams (these elements do not exist in this environment)
  • Operating independently (you are embedded within a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability)
