Adjunct Faculty, Chemistry

Adjunct Faculty, Chemistry – part‑time teaching position at Lone Star College – Houston North Fallbrook campus (12750 Walters Road, Houston, TX 77014). Faculty shall design and deliver chemistry courses to support students in earning Associate degrees.

• Teach chemistry courses at a variety of times and locations.
• Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material.
• Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
• Use a course syllabus for each class, following institutional guidelines.
• Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, or electronic communication.
• Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and communicate progress timely.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a Master’s with at least 18 graduate hours in chemistry.
• Mastery of course content.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative, teamwork‑based approach.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people.
• Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.
• Commitment to academic excellence and a dynamic climate for lifelong learning.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective use of technology.
• Ability to use strategies that engage students in their learning.

Salary: $55.44 per contact hour. The role is held on a semester‑by‑semester basis, with a maximum of five classes per academic year. Classes may be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekend. Instruction is conducted primarily in climate‑controlled classrooms or labs using standard office and laboratory equipment.
