Acara Solutions is looking for an Associate Process Plant Instrument Engineer to work for our partner located out in The Woodlands, TX who specializes in industrial gases and engineering.
Here is what you will get:
Pay Rate: $40-$85/hr DOE
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Associate level Instrument Engineer with experience in industrial process plants instrumentation and control systems, particularly in ASU, LNG, and CO₂ plants and equipment. The ideal candidate will support the design, specifying, and integrating instrumentation and control devices. This position will work closely with lead instrument engineer, project engineering manager, lead process engineer, and various engineering functions. Position be assigned to support multiple projects at various stages.
The ideal candidate will be supporting development of P&, instrumentation design packages and BOM.
Here is what you will do:
- Design and develop instrumentation systems for ASU, LNG, and CO₂ equipment.
- Select and specify field instrumentation, including valves, pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors.
- Draft P&, instrument loop diagrams, and control system architectures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (IEC, ISA, NEC, NFPA, API 541/614, ASME).
- Work with PLC/DCS control systems for automation and process optimization.
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and calibration of instrumentation systems.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and automation engineers to integrate instrumentation into overall plant design.
Required Skills /
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in instrumentation engineering for industrial gases, ASU, LNG, or CO₂ equipment.
- Good knowledge of process instrumentation, control valves, and safety systems.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Experience with 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar).
- Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems for industrial automation.
- Willingness to travel for short-term including international assignments when needed.
