Role Description

The Assistant Chief Engineer is a full-time, on-site role located in The Woodlands, TX, supporting the overall maintenance and engineering operations of the resort. This role assists the Chief Engineer in supervising the engineering team, coordinating daily assignments, and ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems are operating safely and efficiently. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring building systems, responding promptly to guest and team member maintenance requests, overseeing preventive maintenance programs, and coordinating vendor and contractor work.

The Assistant Chief Engineer helps manage building inspections, safety and compliance programs, and recordkeeping for equipment, work orders, and inventories. This role also supports capital improvement projects, trains and mentors engineering team members, and collaborates closely with operations, housekeeping, and front office teams to maintain a high-quality guest experience.

Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems, with hands‑on maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in facilities management within a hotel, resort, or similar large-scale property, including preventive maintenance planning and work order management.
  • Proven supervisory or lead experience, with the ability to train, schedule, and guide engineering team members in a safe and inclusive manner.
  • Understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards, with a commitment to workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, manuals, and equipment specifications.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with cross‑functional teams and interact professionally with guests and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond to emergencies or after‑hours issues as needed.
