PositionSummary
The Transmission Line Engineer II is an early to mid-level engineering role responsible for supporting the design, analysis, and execution of overhead transmission line projects. This position contributes to delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a range of voltages and project types, including utility, renewable energy, and data center infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Perform design and analysis of overhead transmission lines ranging from 12.4 kV to 345 kV
- Develop and contribute to complete transmission line design packages, including Plan and Profile Drawings, Structure Framing Drawings, Load and Design Drawings, Guying and Anchor Design, Foundation Design and Drawings, Sag and Tension Tables, and Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Utilize industry‑standard software such as PLS‑CADD and PLS‑Pole for modeling and design
- Support or assist with transmission line foundation design using tools such as MFAD, HFAD, or TFAD
- Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to support project execution
- Assist in preparing project deliverables, maintaining schedules, and ensuring quality standards are met
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into engineering deliverables
- Continuously expand knowledge of engineering standards, tools, and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
- 2–4 years of transmission line design experience
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification required
- Passage of the Professional Engineering Exam or PE license desirable but not required
- Demonstrated experience and competency in PLS‑CADD and PLS‑Pole (required)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite; ability to write Excel macros desirable
- Experience designing across voltages from 12.4 kV through 345 kV
- Exposure to higher voltages (500 kV or 765 kV) is a plus
- Experience supporting renewable energy and/or data center transmission projects desirable
- Strong understanding of fundamental transmission line engineering principles, codes, and standards
- Strong desire to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and performing design tasks
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and move about office or project sites
- Ability to travel occasionally to project sites, client meetings, or field reviews
- Ability to conduct site visits, including walking on uneven terrain and exposure to outdoor weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., field equipment, plans, or materials)
- Visual acuity sufficient to review detailed engineering drawings, models, and calculations
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to apply engineering fundamentals to design challenges
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with guidance from senior engineers
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools, technologies, and project requirements
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively within a team environment

Pay Range: $110,000 - $130,000 Annually
