This opportunity sits within a Gulf of Mexico production engineering environment, supporting subsea operations through both short- and long-term planning and disciplined execution. This position will focus on maintaining subsea system performance, coordinating technical investigations, and supporting operational reliability across offshore facilities. The role requires a strong engineering background in deepwater subsea operations and the ability to work effectively across production, operations, and engineering teams.
The opportunity is well suited to a technically strong professional who can manage complex subsea issues in a fast-paced offshore setting.
This position supports offshore subsea operations in the Gulf of Mexico within the oil and gas sector. The working environment involves close collaboration with asset teams, plant personnel, operational support functions, offshore operations teams, and specialist contractors. The role is centred on subsea production systems, control systems, operational troubleshooting, light intervention activities, and continuous improvement of subsea performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary engineering contact for offshore facilities on subsea system operational issues and interfaces.
- Identify, coordinate, and investigate anomalies and failures within subsea control and production systems.
- Manage troubleshooting and light intervention scopes, including scheduling, procedure development, execution support, and cost awareness.
- Work closely with production engineers and offshore operations teams to identify improvement opportunities across subsea hardware, control systems, and operator interfaces.
- Monitor subsea system performance through data trending, analysis, and engagement with operational teams.
- Recommend subsea system upgrades or improvements and support the technical case for project approval.
- Participate in multi-discipline engineering reviews and risk reviews.
- Support the development and implementation of subsea system obsolescence management strategies.
- Review subsea leak detection performance and collaborate with operations and engineering teams to assess alarms and implement improvements.
- Provide training on subsea equipment and hardware to offshore production operations personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or a similar engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in deepwater subsea and offshore engineering.
- Current THUET certification, or willingness and ability to obtain it.
- Good working knowledge of subsea production system hardware and interfaces with control systems.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical and hydraulic schematics, general assembly drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Understanding of Gulf of Mexico regulatory requirements for subsea systems.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities within a multidisciplinary team.
- Technical writing capability, including preparation of detailed test and execution procedures, would be advantageous.
- Experience with subsea control modules, troubleshooting, diagnostics, offshore platform control system updates, or ROV vessel IRM campaigns would be beneficial.
