Overview

The Construction Planning Engineer is responsible for the development, coordination, and management of construction schedules, workplans, and execution strategies for FEC projects. This role bridges engineering, procurement, and field construction teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company quality, HSE, and operational standards.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with construction leads, discipline engineers, 3rd party engineering, and construction contractors to organize construction scopes and execution strategies.
  • Identify constructability issues early in the design phase and recommend optimizations.
  • Support the development of construction, installation, and commissioning work packs.
  • Identify scheduler risks, develop mitigation plans.
  • Evaluate change orders for schedule impact and document delays/claims as needed.
  • Interface with engineering, procurement, operations, commissioning, and start-up teams to ensure schedule and execution alignment.
  • Promote and enforce the company's safety culture and HSE standards on all planning activities.
  • Ensure construction plans comply with regulatory requirements, industry codes (API, ASME, NFPA), and company's standards.
  • Work in a highly collaborative, team focused environment.
  • Support project estimating, cost control, schedule development, resource planning, and progress reporting.
  • Provide regular updates to management on work status, risks, costs, schedule, contractor performance, and key issues.
Qualifications (Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years relevant experience required.
  • Experience with installation and/or manufacture of offshore oilfield equipment and/or structures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in project teams.
  • Knowledge of construction trades and practices.
  • Working knowledge of QA/QC programs and NDE methods.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations applicable to offshore construction and production operations.
  • Contribute to efforts internally and externally to improve standards and guidelines.
  • Develop processes, procedures, and training programs to achieve corporate goals.
Working Conditions
  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (private or semi-private office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site onshore/offshore work locations.
  • Field duties require outdoor work in a construction site type atmosphere to include offshore platforms.
  • Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel.
  • Working on a construction site or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
  • May be required to travel out of town on an irregular basis.

  • Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech, hearing, or other communication capabilities which permit the employee to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to perform routine office duties.
  • Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
