Position: Engineer I, II, III, or Sr.

Job Summary

Responsible for engineering design and support for power distribution. Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, and design engineering activities related to routine, non‑routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Perform load flow analysis and circuit coordination analysis utilizing SynerGEE.
  • Identify and develop a plan to correct Un‑Balanced loads on distribution circuits.
  • Develop settings, program, and size all field equipment including but not limited to Reclosers, Fuses, Capacitors, and Regulators.
  • Review all new distributed energy resource technical documents and customer equipment to ensure compliance with Entergy’s standards and policies.
  • Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis on failures with unknown causes.
  • Develop planned switching orders for the network.
  • Troubleshoot power quality issues.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Engineering Associates and local area line groups.
  • Create, review, and recommend electrical designs that meet customer needs, comply with company standards and enhance overall system performance and reliability.
  • Participate in meetings with external customers, architects, developers, contractors, and government entities to communicate standards and guidelines.
  • Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects.
  • Assist with storm restoration efforts both local and out of town.
Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Industrial) from a four‑year accredited institution. Degrees in engineering technology (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Industrial) from a four‑year accredited institution with Professional Engineer (PE) may be considered.

Minimum Experience

Engineer I – 0 to 2 years experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer II – 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer III – 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
Senior Engineer – 6+ years experience in an engineering discipline.

Minimum Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Knowledgeable of engineering principles; ability to understand and comply with procedures, programs, and standards in the responsible area. Good leadership, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Excellent math and project management skills. Proficient with Personal Computer operations and related software. Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code. Ability to manage multiple activities, changing priorities, and work under pressure while maintaining safety and following Entergy safety policies and procedures.

Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and enact change.

Certificates, Licenses, etc.

Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Working Conditions

Must be available for 24‑hour call outs and extended hours as necessary. As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects employees to be available to work additional hours, in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.

This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre‑employment and random drug testing.
