Texas Oncology is looking for an Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Physician Assistant to join our team at The Woodlands, Texas. This position will support the location and will be either Level I, II or Senior based on experience. What does the Advanced Practice Provider do?Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, the APP provides care to patients with cancer or related diagnoses via clinic or virtual telemedicine. Responsibilities include prevention, screening, patient care, management and research. The APP serves as a direct caregiver, consultant, educator, administrator or researcher, ensuring compliance with OSHA, US Oncology Compliance Program, Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients.
- Initiate and document interventions; evaluate and record patient/family response and prescribe therapies.
- Perform procedures after appropriate training.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide education.
- Promote wellness and recommend community resources.
- Incorporate evidence‑based research into practice.
- Develop knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation.
- Complete charge capture and medical record documentation timely.
- Provide case management for patients and families.
- Promote/provide staff education.
- Rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend/after‑hour calls as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current NCCPA certification.
- Level I: 0–3 years of experience;
Level II: 3 years;
Level Senior: 6 years. - Current state medical license as a Physician Assistant.
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification.
Requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and standing/walking for extended periods. Episodes of lifting items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing.
Work EnvironmentExposures may include communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other oncology clinic conditions.
