Medical Assistant - Surgery

Seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team at the Woodlands area location. With multiple locations around Houston, our experience and services extend into your neighborhood. MD Anderson provides medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology services along with a range of supportive programs at all of its greater Houston area locations. At MD Anderson The Woodlands, patients in The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe and communities north of Houston have access to top‑ranked, comprehensive cancer care close to home.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of Medical Assistant experience. CMA / RMA certification preferred. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

• Assists with patient examinations, treatments and procedures.
• Prepares / stocks rooms and escorts patients to rooms.
• Obtains vital signs and prepares patients for physician's care.
• Documents in the medical record patient care entries and completed lab work.
• Reviews and sorts incoming lab results and forwards reports for review.
• Collects laboratory specimens and performs waived laboratory testing.
• Provides transportation of patients for discharge or transfer to other areas in the hospital.
• Cleans, stores, prepares and coordinates maintenance of medical equipment.
• Maintains inventories of laboratory and medical supplies.
• Instructs patients as to test preparations according to planned procedure.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Required:
  
  High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Preferred:
  Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.

• Required:
  
  1 year Medical assistant experience.

• Preferred: CMA - Certified Medical Asst American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
• Preferred: RMA - Reg Medical Assistant American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT).
• Preferred: CCMA - Cert Clinical Medical Asst National Health career Association (NHA).
• Preferred:
  National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)-NCTT National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
• Preferred:
  Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
