Position: AWS Solutions Architect

Department: Cloud Architecture & Engineering

Location: The Woodlands, TX 77380 OR New Orleans, LA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week) – Local candidates only

Type: Contract, Full‑Time (40+ hours/week)

Reports To: Engagement Manager (Funto Network) / Client Technical Lead

Tech Stack: AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS), Terraform, Cloud Formation, CI/CD, Kubernetes

Must reside within reasonable daily commute to either The Woodlands, TX 77380 OR New Orleans, LA. Candidates must specify which location they are applying for. No exceptions.

We partner with clients to design resilient, cost‑efficient cloud solutions that scale with their business. In this direct client engagement, you will serve as the trusted technical authority, guiding cloud strategy and hands‑on implementation from the ground up.

We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Solutions Architect for a contract opportunity. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable, secure, and cost‑effective cloud solutions on AWS. The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on architecture experience, can engage with both technical and business stakeholders, and is comfortable driving long‑term architectural strategy. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to define cloud roadmaps, enforce architecture standards, and ensure seamless integration across applications and data platforms.

• Cloud Solution Design:
  Architect AWS cloud solutions aligned with business, security, and performance requirements; lead architecture discussions and technical decision‑making.
• Documentation & Standards:
  Develop and review AWS reference architectures, diagrams, and comprehensive design documentation.
• Migration Strategy:
  Support cloud migrations from on‑premises or hybrid environments to AWS, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
• Best Practices:
  Implement best practices for scalability, availability, security, and cost optimization across all AWS environments.
• Cross‑Team
  
  Collaboration:
  
  Work closely with Dev Ops, application, data, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and adherence to architectural guidelines.
• Infrastructure as Code:
  Provide guidance on Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform or Cloud Formation; promote automation‑first approaches.
• Troubleshooting & Optimization:
  Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning of cloud infrastructure.
• Mentorship:
  Mentor engineers and provide architectural oversight during implementation phases.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
  Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.

• Experience:
  
  Minimum 7+ years of overall IT experience, with at least 4+ years of hands‑on AWS architecture experience.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Strong knowledge of core AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS, Cloud Watch, and Route 53.
  • Experience designing highly available, fault‑tolerant, and secure cloud architectures.
  • Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in AWS.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Formation, or similar).
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and comfortable in fast‑paced environments.
• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent experience considered.

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
