Job Summary:
It is the intent of the basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities that any building be kept neat and clean at all times. These minimum requirements should be referred to as a guide, rather than a limitation to, the services required to maintain a building effectively. Staff will be required to perform the necessary work to maintain the optimum level of cleanliness in every building or worksite serviced by Flag Ship.
- Essential Functions:
Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, wax and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines. - Clean walls, ceilings, light fixtures, windows and blinds; dust and wash as needed.
- Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to access areas for cleaning.
- Remove stains from surfaces using chemicals and cleaning solutions; sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform seasonal tasks as required.
- Clean and service non-carpeted and carpeted areas; empty waste baskets and replace liners; dust and clean furniture; vacuum carpeting; spot-clean carpets; clean glass on lobby doors.
- Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, vending machines, appliances, sinks and counter areas in lunchrooms/break areas; sweep and mop tile floors; empty and replace liners as needed.
- In restrooms: empty waste baskets, clean and sanitize toilets, basins, and urinals; sweep and mop floors with disinfectant; refill dispensers as needed.
- Empty waste baskets in non-carpeted areas; sweep and spot mop tile floors; perform damp mopping as required; dust/clean desks and surfaces; dust blinds and wood furniture; pollish wood where applicable.
- Perform periodic cleaning of overhead vents, blinds, and interior partition glass; maintain janitor s closet in a neat and orderly condition.
- Operate, maintain and properly store equipment (such as vacuums) at all times.
- Apply and remove protective applications on walls, floors and equipment as needed.
- Knowledge of basic janitorial duties and responsibilities; good listening and verbal communication skills.
- Some positions require the ability to speak/understand English.
- Maintain a neat appearance; uniform may be required at some worksites.
- Attend periodic training and safety meetings; understand and anticipate client needs; be punctual.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- 6 months of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work desired.
- Small-to-large office environment; fast-paced with moderate noise.
- Exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, cleaning products and noise; safety glasses may be required for certain tasks.
- Mix of normal office and shop environments; safety training performed by Flagship.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.
- Ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods; occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds of equipment and trash; use cleaning tools and ladders safely.
- Specific vision abilities required: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
