Overview
Texas Oncology is seeking an Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Medical Oncology and Hematology to join our team! The position will support the Gulf Coast North Region:
Cypress Northwest and Woodlands North locations. This position will be either a Level I, II or Senior based on candidate experience.

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, the APP is involved in the care of individuals, families, and patient groups dealing with cancer or related diagnoses. Care may be in clinic or virtually via telemedicine. Responsibilities include prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. The APP may serve as a direct caregiver, healthcare consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and supporting the US Oncology Compliance Program.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Initiate and document appropriate interventions; evaluate and record patient/family response and prescribe therapies as indicated.
- Perform procedures and mentor/training other providers.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide education.
- Promote wellness and recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Incorporate evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
- Have in‑depth knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
- Complete patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely manner.
- Provide case management for patients and their families.
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff regarding clinical trials.
- Provide palliative care for patients and families as needed.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert and provide staff education.
- Perform rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after‑hours calls.
- Provide education and resources to the community as a subject‑matter expert.
- Supervise activities of clinical nursing and support staff.
- Serve in practice or network‑wide APP leadership role.
- Precept APP students and mentor new advanced practice providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. Minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. AOCNP preferred. Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant in the chosen specialty. Current NCCPA certification and state license in the practicing state. Current BLS/CPR certification required. AOCNP preferred.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. Minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing Clinical Nurse Specialist in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing. Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. AOCN preferred if applicable. Current BLS/CPR certification required.
Demands
The physical demands include full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, bending, stooping, twisting, assisting patients in moving, arising from exam tables or beds, pushing wheelchair patients, standing and walking for extensive periods, occasionally lifting items up to 40 lbs., and corrected vision and hearing at normal ranges.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment includes exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic.
