The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Medicine and Sports Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) is seeking a nurse practitioner to join our Division in The Woodlands as a full-time Instructor. The position offers a competitive salary, benefits and malpractice insurance.
Job PurposeProvides and coordinates advanced care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.
Job Duties- The scope of care will be weight management (i.e., obesity and eating disorders) with the opportunity to expand scope in the future
- This position will provide advanced nursing care in a clinical setting under the direction of a physician
- NP sees new and established patients independently with physician backup as appropriate
- Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.
- Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
- Maintain records and write orders and clinic notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
- Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care.
- Collaborates with providers, and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.
- Screens referrals of patients to decide on the urgency of the referral.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- For Nurse Practitioner:
Master's degree in in Nursing.
Certification/Licenses/Registration:
- For Nurse Practitioner:
Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), and specialty certification as required by department.
