Position OverviewOpenwork is hiring on behalf of our client, a global leader in specialty chemicals and advanced materials, for a Laboratory Data & Sample Operations Coordinator at their premier R&D technology center in The Woodlands, TX. This role supports daily operations, analytical data verification, and sample tracking within a high-tech chemical research environment. Sitting at the intersection of scientific lab work and digital data management, this position is ideal for a candidate with a Chemistry or Scientific background who thrives on organization, data integrity, quality control, and laboratory information systems (LIMS) over full-time bench research.
Key Responsibilities- Sample Management:
Oversee incoming chemical samples, log details into the database, assign tracking labels, route samples to appropriate testing groups, and manage chemical inventory/disposal. - Data Verification & QA:
Review and double-check analytical test data generated by lab equipment and researchers for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards. - LIMS Administration:
Maintain and update records in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to ensure seamless sample tracking and report generation. - Lab Coordination:
Serve as a central point of contact between bench scientists, analytical testing teams, and operations to streamline laboratory workflows. - Documentation & Excel:
Manage technical spreadsheets, logbooks, and standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation using Microsoft Excel and Office tools.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline preferred. - Experience:
1–4 years of experience working in a laboratory, quality control (QC), or lab operations environment. - Database & Systems:
Hands‑on experience or familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) or similar lab databases is strongly preferred. - Technical Proficiency:
Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data organization. - Skills:
High attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
