Overview

The Field Operator is responsible for ensuring safety and operational excellence. They diagnose and repair equipment issues and collaborate on asset project planning maintenance across AMP client sites. The role involves troubleshooting gas processing issues, verifying grounding grid layouts, and performing routine maintenance on Medium Voltage and Generation Reciprocating and Turbine equipment. Effective communication of maintenance details, compliance verification during site visits, adherence to safety codes and standards, and management of power distribution with a focus on safety and AMP guideline adherence are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Engages actively in company safety initiatives, including daily programs such as written documentation, observations, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Diagnoses issues and performs essential repairs on malfunctioning equipment.
  • Collaborates in planning electrical projects and on generation, reciprocating and turbine equipment on third-party vendor sites.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots Medium Voltage (MV) motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and processing gear.
  • Manages the operation of natural gas processing equipment across AMP client sites.
  • Handles troubleshooting calls pertaining to all equipment issues.
  • Verifies proper layout and testing of the grounding grid for AMP and third-party equipment on-site that receives power from AMP.
  • Conducts, documents, and contributes to site visits to ensure compliance with AMP processing standards for all AMP site equipment.
  • Reports and implements corrective actions to address operational issues related to AMP site equipment.
  • Assists in mobilizing and demobilizing packages and related equipment.
  • Recertifies and commissions all digital instrumentation and flow measurement devices associated with AMP site equipment.
  • Undertakes entry-level PLC modifications to enhance performance of AMP site equipment.
  • Performs tasks in adherence to safety rules, SOPs, and workplace instructions; follows OEM, OSHA, MSHA, and NEC codes to conduct repairs, preventive maintenance, and operation of electrical equipment.
  • Communicates details of job maintenance and repairs to the Supervisor or designated individuals.
  • Initiates procurement of electrical components, supplies, and tools, identifying critical spare parts for safe and efficient equipment function.
  • Executes routine maintenance on MV switch gear, MV circuit breakers, transformers, and related equipment; monitors and troubleshoots branch feeder circuit protection relays.
  • Delivers comprehensive written and observational pre-job and post-job analyses.
  • Conducts routine maintenance and testing of MV cables before each frac operation; maintains condition of electrical devices and cables.
  • Responsible for power distribution to equipment including cable routing, designation, terminations, final inspection, and energizing of MV circuits.
  • Operates and maintains AMP vehicles in accordance with safety and operational rules.
  • P erforms other related duties as assigned to support operations and business continuity.
Qualifications

  • Pre-employment requirements: successfully passes applicable tests including background check, drug screening, fit tests, and aptitude/competency assessments.

Education/Experience
  • Required:

    High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4 years of medium voltage electrical experience and/or 2 years with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches.
  • 24 months of previous oilfield experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of EPA, DOT, RRC, OSHA, NEC, AGA, API, GPA.
  • MV experience; mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Preferred:
    Technical college training;
    Associate degree in electrical technology or related field;
    Protection Relay experience/certifications;
    Certified journeyman electrician/Master Electrician;
    Gas turbine or aircraft engine services (A&P License).
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend intermediate English; basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read electrical/controls drawings and schematics; operate testing equipment (Megger, Multimeter/Process Meter, Amp probe, High Pot, etc.).
  • Complete safety trainings including H2S, Powered Industrial, First Aid and CPR; annual safety recertification.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts for fourteen consecutive days; work within a team; troubleshoot electrical systems; take instruction well.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills; comfortable with company digital platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact with clients in a technical manner.
  • Advanced knowledge of preventative and corrective maintenance across turbine generators, gas turbine engines, mechanical and electrical systems, PMS, and related systems.
