What you’ll be doing

:
This is a PRN position and will follow the school calendar year – August to May, Weekdays 9 AM - 2 PM

As an Education Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing academic support to patients with behavioral health conditions, maintaining academic status and progress in their home school district while prioritizing treatment. Your expertise will facilitate an independent learning classroom environment, conduct education assessments, coordinate with the home school, develop specialized education plans, and collaborate with the treatment team to enhance patient outcomes and overall wellness.

Essential duties and responsibilities
:

  • Conduct Academic Support Sessions: deliver group and one-on-one academic support in a classroom setting; create a safe, inclusive environment that encourages work completion and a sense of community
  • Develop Educational Programs: create comprehensive education plans to maintain the patient’s academic standing at the home school district and coordinate state/county tutoring resources as needed
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Team: work with primary therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach; communicate with parents, authorized school staff, tutors, and guidance counselors to advocate for academic needs; participate in transition meetings and 504 planning as appropriate
  • Monitor Patient Progress: track educational progress, identify areas for improvement, and adjust plans with the treatment team; maintain accurate records in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Stay Current and Compliant: stay informed on eating, behavioral, and mental health disorders and related treatments; adhere to education best practices and ERC Pathlight policies
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, behavioral sciences, or related field (required)
  • Teaching experience (2–4 years) in a classroom or school environment (required)
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health conditions, treatment modalities, and therapeutic interventions (required)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and healthcare professionals (required)
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude to support individuals facing mental health challenges (required)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to comprehensive treatment plans (required)
  • Knowledge of educational methodologies, curriculum design, and specialized education (required)
  • Teaching certification (preferred)
  • Experience in behavioral healthcare education and supporting patients with mental health conditions (preferred)
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines in behavioral healthcare education (preferred)
