Teacher (Visually Impaired)

Qualifications

  • Certification as an elementary and/or secondary teacher, meeting the requirements listed in the Louisiana Standards for State certification of school personnel, Bulletin 746, Part III, IV, V, VI, VII, IX, and X.
  • Minimum qualifications as stated in SDE Bulletin 746 (as revised).
  • Qualifications should be established for the position, not the individual.

Planning and Preparation
  • Plans and practices display a solid understanding of developmental characteristics, skills, and needs of each individual student in his/her specialty.
  • Plans and practices display a solid understanding of how disabilities impact student’s attitudes, behaviors, and performance.
  • Programing is coherent and well integrated with the student’s Individual Education Program.

  • Models and promotes respectful and supportive interactions with each student, actively encouraging interaction among students.
  • Establishes standards of conduct referenced by teacher and students; monitors behavior relative to these standards.
