Qualifications:

• Professional proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school setting
• Ability to provide clear, age-appropriate interpretation for young learners
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and encouraging learning atmosphere
• Flexibility and a positive, patient approach

Role Responsibilities:

• Serve as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter for a kindergarten student during the  school year
• Facilitate real-time communication between the student, peers, and staff
• Collaborate with an ASL-fluent classroom teacher to maximize the student’s learning success
• Adapt interpreting techniques to match the student’s evolving skills
• Support the development of literacy, social interaction, and classroom participation through effective interpretation
• Engage with education staff to ensure a seamless educational experience for the student

This position allows you to play an instrumental role in a young child's educational journey, while working alongside a teacher who values and understands sign language communication.
