Position: Production Shift Supervisor

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Safely supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of Process Technicians.
  • Manage execution of routine equipment and safety inspections.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of materials and manage inventory inspections.
  • Develop, implement and conduct employee training programs related to equipment operations.
  • Review and document changes in standard operating procedures and Standard Operating Manuals.
  • Train shift personnel on changes of procedures and work instructions.
  • Assist in plant shutdown, start-up and turnaround planning and related activities.
  • Evaluates, mentors/develops, coaches, and provides feedback (positive or developmental) to the Process Technicians as necessary.
  • Qualify process technicians in plant areas through verbal competency test.
  • Document and investigate violations of company policy, standard operating procedures and work practices and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Complies with all Safety Procedures.
  • Manage operations vacation and call out scheduling are in accordance with Shintech’s policy.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with Shintech policies and procedures.
  • Take necessary actions when mechanical equipment problems arise.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of routine and major maintenance activities within their area and work with the planners, technicians, and operations daily.
  • Improve work efficiency by working with the warehouse to improve material deliveries and material stock.
  • Manage and support all emergent and urgent work within their area of responsibility
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance for next day work list from the weekly schedule and communicates to Operations and Maintenance personnel.
  • Manage and optimize overall spending within their area. Tracks progress of work in their area and documents learned for future planning and scheduling.
  • Oversee backlog management efforts within their area of responsibility.
  • Improve efficient execution of maintenance activities by ensuring aggressive daily/week schedules are not only developed but followed.
  • Help improve work order priorities and allocation of resources when necessary.
  • Assist with overtime management to reduce overtime percentages.
  • Improve communication between Maintenance and other departments (Operations, Engineering, Safety, etc.) in their area of responsibility.
  • Review, and approve operations overtime, and time sheets.
  • Work directly with the Electrical, Instrument, Analyzer, and Mechanical Supervisors regarding the scheduling of work task.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • High School diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience of manufacturing or related military experience. An accredited associate’s degree in Chemical Process or Chemical Technology or Chemical Process Certificate is required in lieu of experience.
  • Completed certification in all VCM operator jobs.
Preferred
  • 5 Years of VCM operations; step-up supervisor experience
  • Prior supervising experience
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to access all plant areas.
  • Use of PPE required in specific areas.
  • Regularly required to push, pull, bend, and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.
  • Climb stairs, straight ladders, and structures, etc.
  • Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
  • Required to be medically certified for respirator and medically fit for duty.
  • Work in all weather conditions, under emergency conditions, and for prolonged periods of time.
  • Available to work 12-hour rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
