Job Description
Student Success Advisors are expected to successfully guide students through academic and non‑academic challenges from the point of initial prospect relations through graduation. Their work should set students up for current and future successes and positively impact student enrollment, engagement, retention, and completion king in tandem with assigned program/division faculty, fellow advisors, and Academic & Student Affairs personnel, Student Success Advisors intentionally build active relationships with students offering comprehensive support through all aspects of their higher education experience.
Responsibilities- Act as a comprehensive advocate and advisor for students to ensure their success.
- Serve as a school official to oversee the compliance of Federal Aviation Administration duties for the Aerospace program.
- Coordinate daily operations.
- Manage the Aerospace Testing Center‑Talogy / True Talent.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Three years of related professional work experience; a master’s degree may substitute for 18 months professional work experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 12 months professional work experience; an associate degree may substitute for 6 months professional work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of student development.
- Experience with computer software applications and systems with the ability to create business correspondence, reports, and presentations.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and independently make decisions regarding workload and routine problems and/or situations.
- Problem‑solving skills with the ability to set priorities, reason analytically, determine alternative solutions, and analyze and interpret information with a high degree of accountability and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and management skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral) to communicate effectively without supervision or review, including public speaking skills to present information in a clear and actionable way to small and large groups.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to explain and help interpret complex policies involving multiple departments, systems, and levels, such as records and registration, financial aid, business services, bookstore, and admissions.
- Baccalaureate Degree in a related field, e.g. Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Work
- Experience in higher education
- Experience in developing academic plans
- Knowledge of data privacy practices and FERPA
- Experience providing academic and/or employment case management
