Security Officer

Position Overview

Sanford Health is hiring a Security Officer to patrol facility buildings and grounds, enforce policies, maintain safety, and provide assistance. The role requires 12‑hour shifts within a 14‑day cycle, including day, night, and weekend shifts.

Schedule:

12‑hour shifts, 36 weekly hours, 14‑day cycle, including weekends. Salary range: $18.75–$29.00 per hour.

• Monitor conduct of visitors, patrol and secure facility buildings and grounds.
• Confront unauthorized persons and report safety, fire hazards, or security violations.
• Respond to service requests from employees, patients/residents, and visitors.
• Assist in problem‑solving and escort personnel to and from parking areas.
• Maintain records and prepare incident reports and related documents.
• Prioritize calls for service by safety urgency.
• De‑escalate situations, maintain awareness of local laws, and keep awareness of medication areas if applicable.

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). College or vocational education also preferred.
• Prior experience in healthcare security, contract security, or law enforcement highly preferred.
• Valid driver's license may be required;
  Sanford insurability dependent upon region.
• Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety preferred within one year of hire.
• Strong communication skills, ability to write professional reports, and physical ability to perform basic security functions.
