Key Responsibilities
Litigation Management
Monitor and manage all litigation cases (civil, criminal, consumer, labour, arbitration, etc.) within the assigned zone.
Prepare, review, and vet legal pleadings, affidavits, and other documents.
Represent the company before courts, tribunals, and quasi-judicial authorities when required.
Coordination with Stakeholders
Liaise with external counsels, law firms, and local advocates for case updates, strategies, and hearings.
Collaborate with internal departments (sales, operations, HR, compliance, etc.) to gather case facts, evidence, and documentation.
Case Tracking & Reporting
Maintain litigation trackers, MIS reports, and dashboards for management review.
Analyse litigation trends and recommend preventive legal measures to reduce exposure.
Compliance & Advisory
Ensure compliance with court directions, statutory deadlines, and regulatory obligations.
Provide legal advice to business functions on matters with potential litigation risks.
Documentation & Risk Mitigation
Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all ongoing and potential litigations.
Contribute to drafting SOPs, policies, and frameworks to mitigate litigation risks.
Internal Stakeholders
Board & Senior Management – reporting and strategic inputs.
Sales & Operations Teams – case facts and evidence collection.
HR Department – labour and employee-related disputes.
Compliance & Risk Teams – regulatory adherence and risk mitigation.
External Stakeholders
Regulators (RBI, SEBI, etc.) – compliance and reporting obligations.
External Counsels & Law Firms – litigation strategy and representation.
Local Advocates – case-specific support and representation.
Auditors & Rating Agencies – legal risk disclosures and assessments.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of litigation processes and NBFC regulatory environment.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously across jurisdictions.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Analytical mindset with focus on risk mitigation and compliance.
Experience Required
8–12 years of post-qualification experience in litigation management, preferably within NBFCs, banks, or financial services.
Strong exposure to civil, criminal, consumer, labour, and arbitration matters.
Proven track record of handling litigation across multiple jurisdictions and coordinating with external counsels.
