About this Role

The Quality Engineer ensures that Silgan Dispensing products and manufacturing processes meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards. This position works closely with production, engineering, and product development teams to address customer complaints, improve processes, and maintain compliance with ISO QMS requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Program optical measuring devices (Micro Vue / Keyenc) used by Quality and Production departments.
  • Investigate customer complaints (EBBs) with Production and Engineering teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead the Metrology labs, ensuring equipment is available and programmed for production and qualification needs.
  • Assist quality efforts by collaborating with Manufacturing, Central Engineering, and Product Development to implement product and process improvements and validations, including full documentation of actions and results.
  • Apply DOE techniques to ensure process optimization after qualification.
  • Manage the SPC Infinity Data Collection system, analyze data, and support corrective and preventive actions by interfacing with all relevant departments, including training QA and Production teams.
  • Develop and utilize internal or external resources to accomplish tasks and other duties as assigned.
  • Meet project timeline targets.
  • Support ISO QMS compliance and provide training for Infinity and optical measurement systems on the Silgan CT campus.
  • Operate the Metrology labs at Silgan CT campus facilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in quality, engineering, or another technical discipline.
  • Ability to learn, grow, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • 3–5 years of experience in product design, process engineering, or project management.
  • Hands‑on experience with disciplined engineering document control systems (timelines, qualification protocol, change control).
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to summarize data and provide conclusions and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of test fixtures, gauges, and ability to conduct gage R&R’s.
  • Self‑starting team player with good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Continuous improvement efforts are essential.
  • Use of SPC and DOE in a manufacturing environment required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Knowledge of automated assembly, molding, and metal forming.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Knowledge and use of a data collection system.
Physical Demands

Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. Use of PPE on the production floor. Includes sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, and grasping as required.
