Position: *INTERNAL POSTING* Welding Department Division Chair
Division Chair
The Division Chair is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and evaluating the respective instructional division(s). This responsibility also includes oversight of all division instructors, assisting in providing professional development activities, assisting in making hiring recommendations, and making necessary modifications to successfully complete activities for the instructional division. Also, the Division Chair is responsible for working closely with the appropriate Director and Instructional Officer in the development and allocation of division budgets and funds.
These job responsibilities are considered supplemental duties to an instructor's regular full-time duties.
This is a temporary appointment on the D-1 Salary Schedule, wherein an instructor serves at the pleasure of the President and can be removed at any time. These supplemental duties do not create a job position for which tenure or non-probationary status is earned.
$400 per month stipend as permitted by the ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedules, as well as one course release per semester.
This position is posted in compliance with Alabama Code 16-22-15. It is the intent to place a current employee in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities At a minimum, the essential functions of this position shall include:
Develops and submits proposed divisional class schedule, teaching load, and summer semester teaching schedule to the appropriate Director.Works with the appropriate Director on the planning, budgeting, and expenditures of funds allocated for the respective division.Maintains oversight of curriculum and master template.Develops a high level of instruction by working with instructors.Orients new instructors to the College and to their specific functions.Confers with instructors about examinations as the division chair deems necessary and advisable.Participates in the orientation of Adjunct Instructors.Recommends textbook adoptions to the appropriate Director and furnish lists of textbooks to be used in their divisions along with an estimate of the number needed each semester.Participates in recruiting instructors for the division, both full-time and part-time, using the appropriate Human Resources procedures.Presides over divisional meetings and submits copies of the minutes to the appropriate Director.Arranges, in cooperation with the appropriate Director, for classes to be covered when an instructor is absent and report instructor absences to the appropriate Instructional Officer.Ensures that all College reports and requested information are submitted accurately and promptly.Assists in student recruitment and retention of students.Works closely with the College administration on the development of annual budgets for approval by the President.Maintains inventory records of all equipment assigned to the respective division and periodically reconcile their records with those maintained by the appropriate Director.Acts as liaison between the division and appropriate administrators to ensure that policies and procedures are followed.All positions at Coastal Alabama have the job responsibilities below:

Required Qualifications:
A current full-time instructor of Coastal Alabama Community College.The appropriate teaching credentials and experience to teach a course or courses in the respective division.Ability to traverse and work on other campuses as needed.Proficiency in communication skills.Ability to work well with others and work under pressure.Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years' experience as an instructor at the postsecondary level.Application Procedures/Additional Information
