Stacker Operator

Westervelt Lumber, Thomasville, AL

The Stacker will operate machines to sort and stack lumber.

Reports To:

Sawmill Supervisor

Position Details:
Full-time, 40 hours per week

Detailed

Job Description:

  • Must be able to fix cross ups as they occur.
  • Must have good hand and eye coordination.
  • Must be able to recognize the different sizes and lengths in wood as well as the different grades.
  • Ensures equipment operates properly by completing daily cleanup tasks on and around equipment.
  • Ensure products meet Thomasville quality specifications.
  • Ensure sticks are properly placed in stacks.
  • Ensures good stack quality.

  • Willing to work any shift including weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed.
  • Commitment to safety.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to change.
  • Ability to adhere to all safety policies and regulations including wearing safety equipment.
  • Ability to work in noisy environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work from elevated positions using required safety gear and procedures.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for extended periods of time.
  • Able to work in a variety of environmental conditions.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Additional Comments:

  • Preferred Experience:

    Driving and operating a mobile equipment such as front end loader, skid steer or forklift within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience working in lumber or wood products industry and/or manufacturing.
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment.
  • Sawmill experience preferred.
