Cleaver-Brooks is looking for a Corporate Commodity Manager to join our team in Thomasville, GA
. The Corporate Commodity Manager is responsible for commodities or assignments requiring application of purchasing principles, theories, and concepts.
This position will be the subject matter expert for the specific category of Indirect Procurement Agreements and Contracts. The Commodity Manager ensures timely acquisitions of product and/or service from known sources of supply and will lead or participate in the RFQ/RFP process. Additionally, the Commodity Manager may resolve issues in the areas of shipment accuracy and completeness, on-time delivery, or supplier payment functioning in a matrix environment.
Position reports directly to the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing and is an individual contributor role.
Job Location: Thomasville, GA
Essential functions- Identifies and recommends suppliers by investigating potential suppliers, researching parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials availability.
- Will conduct supplier site visits and evaluations as to production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteria.
- Will complete supplier certification as part of a technical and/or quality team.
- Develop a scorecard of Key Performance Indicators.
- Prepare Request for Quotations (RFQ) or Proposals (RFP) collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Evaluates bids for standard and non-standard items.
- Selects suppliers for lower cost items or items of limited scope and complexity and negotiates price, delivery, quality, and service.
- Manage agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated with suppliers.
- Develop alternate sources of supply by identifying and researching prospective suppliers.
- Monitors and evaluates supplier performance.
- Advises appropriate personnel for impending supplier failure to fulfill contractual agreements that may delay production or delivery.
- Facilitates the resolution of issues by arranging and participating in or leading conferences between suppliers and company personnel.
- Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; preferably in a Business, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or Management
- Must have at least 5+ years experience in a manufacturing context.
- Four (4) years’ experience total as a Tactical Buyer or Sourcing Agent.
- Familiar with Supply Chain concepts and methodologies.
- Ability and willingness to travel both domestic and international (Mexico, Canada) as required; capable of obtaining a passport.
- Strong organization skills with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for an effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
- Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Professional certifications from APICS, ISM, or CIPS are a plus.
- Exposure to LEAN Manufacturing, problem solving methodology (8D, A3, Fishbone, 5-Why).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for an effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
- Experience in working with the purchase and administration of building leases, office furniture, copiers, printers, hotels, airlines, car rentals, non-Bill-of-Materials related manufacturing & business expenditures.
- Ability to travel overnight up to 25% of the time.
Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires infrequent physical effort.
Working Conditions and HazardsNormal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions.
