The Controls Engineer will assist the Engineering Manager with upgrades to electrical and control systems, maintain plant equipment, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the implementation of the Bakery of the Future.
Position Responsibilities- Eliminate outdated PLC, HMI, drives, servos, and other electrical components in plant equipment.
- Work with plant engineers to identify equipment needing upgrades and determine upgrade sequencing.
- Order hardware, manage installation, and program hardware to current standards.
- Lead technicians in installing conduit, hardware, and rewiring as needed.
- Assist maintenance teams with electrical and programming troubleshooting, including responding to off‑hour breakdowns.
- Train supervisors and hourly technicians on PLC operation, logic, and troubleshooting.
- Instruct maintenance technicians on inspecting, repairing, and cleaning assigned electrical panels.
- Support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Bakery of the Future systems, IoT/smart sensors, and related equipment, collaborating with BOF, IT, and continuous improvement teams.
- Additional responsibilities may include: control system design, PLC programming, electrical design, HMI design and programming, troubleshooting of electrical/PLC/HMI systems, interfacing with real‑time database applications, supporting project proposals and estimation, preparing functional specifications, assisting with equipment selection and procurement, site commissioning, and on‑call service support.
- Proficiency in RS500, RS5000, Factory Talk, and Connected Components Workbench for programming, troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servos.
- Understanding of control system architecture, including network, server, PLC, and workstation components.
- Knowledge of instrumentation and control, configuration, fault finding, and installation standards.
- Experience with fieldbus technologies and data communication systems.
- Ability to install, configure, and set up field instrumentation, field networks, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA.
- Sound experience with Siemens, Rockwell, or OPTO 22 PLCs, Inductive Automation Ignition, and Canary Labs Historian.
- Depth of knowledge in control and automation standards and best practices.
- Experience developing, building, and maintaining batching systems.

- Associate’s degree required.
Competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000.
