SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for all aspects in the Inspection of metal forming production, fabrication shop, and assembly. The level I Inspector will be required to safely and efficiently execute assigned work in a timely manner, and meet quality standards and rates. Also expected to promote and conform to the company’s regulations and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Includes, but may not be limited to the following:
Inspects in-process production metal stampings, fabrication, and/or assembly per assigned task.
Documents actual findings utilizing a computer system.
Performs visual inspection of welded components, sanding components, and notched and tumbled components per customer specification.
Inspect for defects and cosmetic issues.
Takes the appropriate action to report defects and work with teams to correct.
Prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
Maintain work flow with no or minimum interruptions.
Promotes team work and willingness to help others.
Performs set-up inspection and approval for Generic Production Items.
Performs set-up inspection and approval for medical and other complex products.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED from an Accredited Institution of higher learning
Able to utilize micrometers, calipers, drop gages, dial indicators
Able to use Rockwell Test Equipment, Optical Comparator Able to operate a Smart scope, CMM/Shadow Graph Basic mathematic knowledge
Able to lift up to 50 pounds
Basic problem-solving, critical thinking, and organization skills
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, personnel policies, graphs and other production documents.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior leaders, departmental managers and directors.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
The employee is occasionally exposed to conditions such as dirt, grease and oil and will work on the manufacturing floor and quality lab.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job in an office setting and on the manufacturing floor.
Employee may be exposed to loud noise while on the manufacturing floor. Hearing Protection is required.
The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 20 pounds on a daily basis.
