Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Summary

Fusion Medical Staffing‑Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for a 13‑week assignment in Thomasville, Georgia. The role requires a registered nurse with step‑down or progressive care experience.

• Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments per approved nursing techniques, focusing on cardiac care.
• Prepares equipment and assists physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations.
• Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients.
• Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of cardiac status and response to interventions.
• Responds to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies.
• Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients.
• Initiates patient education plans according to individualized needs, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
• Maintains confidentiality of patients and client information.
• Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
• Adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.

• One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN.
• Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
• Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC).
• Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC).
• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification (preferred).
• NIHSS Certification (preferred).
• Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.
• Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Competent PC skills.
• Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100lbs), push, pull, and bend.
• Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintain positive attitude and professionalism.
• Technical/motor skills: perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and assist with procedures and equipment.
• Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the public and customers, meet deadlines under pressure, work with or without supervision.
• Sensory requirements: visual acuity, effective communication.
