What we need:The Assistant Plant Controller supports the Plant Controller and plant leadership by executing financial analysis, cost accounting activities, and reporting processes that ensure accurate financial results and visibility into plant performance. The role focuses on preparing analyses, monitoring variances, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and maintaining strong financial controls while partnering with operations to improve understanding of cost and performance drivers.
What you’ll do:- Perform assigned month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reviews, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial results, operating metrics, and key performance indicators.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and variances, including materials, labor, overhead, scrap, productivity, and conversion costs.
- Maintain product-costing and inventory-valuation activities, including standard costs, cost estimates, bills of material, routings, and relevant master data.
- Prepare information for budgets, forecasts, strategic plans, and standard-cost updates.
- Partner with Operations and other plant functions to understand cost drivers, identify performance gaps, and support corrective actions.
- Monitor the accuracy of inventory, fixed assets, reserves, accruals, payroll-related accounts, and assigned balance-sheet accounts.
- Perform inventory-control activities, including physical inventories, cycle counts, adjustments, and slow-moving and obsolete inventory reviews.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, accounting standards, and audit requirements.
- Prepare documentation and analyses for internal and external audits.
- Analyze capital projects and support project justification, tracking, capitalization, and post-completion reviews.
- Complete special projects, process improvements, and ad hoc financial analyses as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related fieldor equivalent education and/or experience.
- 2-4 years of job-related experienceor equivalent education and/or experience.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, month-end close, and account reconciliations.
- Working knowledge of SAP and the ability to navigate and analyze financial and operational information within the system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize, analyze, and present financial data.
- Experience using Microsoft Power BI to review, analyze, or develop financial and operational reporting is a plus
- Experience with cost accounting, standard costing, inventory accounting, or manufacturing variance analysis is preferred; willingness and ability to develop in these areas is important.
- CPA, CMA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification or advanced degree is a plus, but not required.
- Communicating clearly and professionally with financial and operational teams.
